"Barbara Joseph is a trainer I've admired tremendously and one of my favourite racing people. The 'Baroness of Bombala' as I tagged her some years ago has established herself as a trainer of sound judgement and wonderful horse sense. Whether she's racing at Canberra, Bega, Sydney or Melbourne her horses always look the part and perform accordingly. Barbara's expertise as a trainer is exceeded only by her friendly disposition and willingness to make herself available for friends, owners and media. I'm certain her Doncaster win with Merimbula Bay won't be her last Group One triumph!."

John Tapp - former racecaller and SKY Channel host

In a training career spanning nearly 30 years Barbara Joseph has developed a reputation as a trainer prepared to travel anywhere to win a race with her horses. From the Picnics to Group One races the Joseph stable is usually represented, and more often that not they are represented in good numbers.

There is no doubt that most owners of Joseph runners require a current NSW road map to assist them in getting along to see their charger go around. Occasionally, you may even see a Joseph runner appear in Country or Metropolitan Victoria. Part of the reason may be that the stables are strategically placed in Canberra and Bombala in southern NSW. This enables the Joseph stable to take advantage of the strong racing centre in the ACT while only being a short travelling distance to both Sydney and Melbourne. Wherever they appear, Joseph Racing owners are happy to trek around NSW and Victoria in the knowledge that Barbara is an astute trainer with a great strike rate, and they know that their horse will always be well placed to be competitive.

Not satisfied with travelling to all corners of NSW and Victoria the 'Baroness of Bombala' has also made a name for herself as the star training attraction at Darwin Cup carnivals, where it is no surprise that she also has a very good strike rate.

Barbara's ability to pick out suitable races for her horses is what her success has been built on over her training career. Her preparedness to travel to those suitable races is not only a testament to how willing Barbara is to look after her owners, it also demonstrates how dedicated she is to her horses, and what a tremendous knowledge she has of them and their ability. Barbara has also developed good support staff who focus on their role of taking care of the horses and providing good service and information to owners.

Barbara herself says, "The Joseph Racing team is keen to ensure our owners enjoy the benefits of horseracing including the social activities, opportunities to meet new people and the thrill of winning races". Enjoy it they do - in her career Barbara has trained many hundreds of winners at a very high strike rate, she regularly achieves success at the big country feature race meetings, and has consistently been in the top ten trainers in NSW. Barbara also became the first woman trainer to win a Group One race at Randwick when Merimbula Bay scored in the 1989 Doncaster Handicap.

Although Barbara has built an impressive record, you can be assured that she will not be resting on her laurels. Her determination and continued hunger for success ensures that there are many more exciting times ahead for the stable, her owners, and supporters.
